Center for First-Generation Students

What does it mean to be first-generation? First-generation (or first-gen) college students are students whose parents or guardians have not completed a bachelor’s degree. Over 50% of TWU students are first-generation college students.

The Center for First-Generation Students (CFGS) is dedicated to helping first-generation students navigate their university experience and celebrate achievements in ways that increase student success through graduation. We offer a range of activities and events designed to support the unique needs of first-generation college students. These, along with various services and programs, aim to build collaborative relationships that enhance students' learning and engagement opportunities and enrich their co-curricular experiences to promote student success.

Student support services include First-Gen Pioneers, First-Gen Fridays, G-Force Work-Study Mentorship Program, GO Centers, and the TWU Mobile GO Center.
