Mission
Disability Services for Students (DSS) ensures that TWU students with disabilities have equitable access to TWU classes, programs, and events. We enhance student learning by promoting self-advocacy and partnering with faculty and staff to create a more accessible environment. We seek to advance representation of TWU students with disabilities and establish disability culture as an essential aspect of diversity, vital to society and the TWU community.
The Accommodation Process
Per URP: 01.242 Academic Accommodations for Students, students must self-identify by applying for academic and housing accommodations through myDSS Online and by providing documentation of disability. After submitting an online application for accommodations, students will meet with DSS staff to discuss accommodation needs and determine eligibility. Upon completion of the registration process, students are required to request accommodations each semester using the myDSS online portal. Professors will be notified of approved accommodations via email. Professors have up to five business days to implement the DSS approved accommodations after receipt of the accommodations via email.
Accessible Parking
Students must meet two requirements to use an ADA parking space on the Denton or Dallas campus. First they must own and display a state-issued ADA license plate or placard. Second, they must obtain a valid TWU ADA parking permit. To obtain a TWU ADA parking permit please visit or call the parking department and:
- If using a hangtag or placard, present either the original, photocopy, or picture of your placard for validation.
- If using a license plate, including a specialty plate (e.g. Disabled Veterans) present a copy of the tax receipt.
