Enrollment Certification
Beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year, federal loan eligibility for graduate students will be directly tied to your credit load for those enrolled less than full-time. You can read about these updates here: Federal Loan Updates for 2026-2027 | Texas Woman's University. Federal requirements define full-time enrollment for graduate students as nine credit hours per semester. These requirements supersede any university definitions for full-time enrollment. Students enrolled in fewer than nine hours will have their aid prorated according to federal requirements.
Enrollment verification and loan deferments are completed in the Registrar’s Office and are based upon a student’s having registered and paid tuition and fees according to the following criteria:
Graduate Level
Fall & Spring
| Enrollment Time | Hours |
|---|---|
| Full-time: | 9 hours |
| Half-time: | 5-8 hours |
Summer (cumulative across all summer sessions)
| Enrollment Time | Hours |
|---|---|
| Full-time: | 9 hours |
| Half-time: | 5-8 hours |
Student teaching, practicum, thesis, and dissertation semester credit hours will be certified as full-time. Internships will be certified as full-time if enrolled in 6 or more semester credit hours and half-time if enrolled in 3-5 semester credit hours.
For the accelerated MBA program, due to the unique nature of the program, half-time status will be defined as 3-5 hours, and full-time status will be defined as 6+ hours.
