The Department of Social Sciences and Historical Studies offers undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in History or Political Science; as well as the Bachelor of Science in Sociology or Criminal Justice. Special emphasis in political science include legal studies and pre-law advising for students is available. We also offer a minor in history, political science, criminal justice, and sociology, as well as programs leading to teacher certification at various levels. Minors in these areas provide a broad-based intellectual background complementing majors from other fields. Interdisciplinary minors in Ethnic Studies and in Global Studies are also available through the department.
At the graduate level, the department has programs in Political Science, History, and Sociology. This includes graduate certificates in History, Political Science, Diversity, and Social Science Research Methods; Master of Arts in History, Political Science, and Sociology; as well as a doctoral program in Sociology.
